- The Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court has observed that incidents taking place after filing divorce petition may be taken into consideration while passing the final order.
- During the initial days of the matrimonial dispute, a panchayat was called and the wife admitted her mistakes. The wife had agreed to live with the husband peacefully, however she left her matrimonial home the next day. The husband filed a divorce petition for dissolution of his marriage, and the wife filed criminal cases against the husband and his family members. The husband and his family members suffered the ordeal of going through prolonged criminal trial and they were found innocent and acquitted.
- The Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court observed that subsequent events i.e., husband and his family members’ acquittal in two criminal cases filed by the wife after the husbands filing divorce petition, were grounds to conclude that she had treated the husband with cruelty.
